Badi Devkali Temple

Badi Devkali Temple is one of the most sacred temples in Ayodhya and is dedicated to the Kuldevi (family goddess) of Lord Shri Ram. The temple is especially famous because three goddesses — Maa Mahakali, Maa Mahalakshmi, and Maa Mahasaraswati — are believed to reside together in a single sacred idol.

According to religious beliefs, there are only two temples in India where three goddesses are worshipped together in one idol. One is the Vaishno Devi Temple, and the other is the revered Badi Devkali Temple of Ayodhya.

Located within the city area of Ayodhya, the temple holds immense spiritual significance among devotees. It is believed that this place was once surrounded by forests before the temple was established. The idols of Goddess Kali, Goddess Lakshmi, and Goddess Saraswati were installed here by the Suryavanshi ruler Maharaja Sudarshan during the Treta Yuga.

The temple is also known by the name “Sheetla Devi Temple” and attracts thousands of devotees who visit to seek blessings, peace, and spiritual strength. With its religious importance and divine atmosphere, Badi Devkali Temple remains one of the major pilgrimage destinations in Ayodhya.
