Kale Ram Temple

Kale Ram Temple is one of the oldest and most revered temples in Ayodhya, dedicated to Lord Shri Ram. The temple was constructed in 1782 in traditional Nagar architectural style by Raja Jawalkar, a treasurer of the Peshwa rulers. It is popularly known as “Kale Ram Temple” because the idol of Lord Ram installed inside the temple is made from black stone.

The temple stands approximately 74 feet high and is beautifully designed with traditional carvings and spiritual architecture. The temple structure can be viewed from all four directions, while its grand dome rises nearly 69 feet high. The temple is known for its peaceful atmosphere and devotional environment, attracting pilgrims and tourists throughout the year.

Inside the temple premises, devotees can also witness a Hanuman Temple where Lord Hanuman is believed to be humbly gazing towards the feet of Lord Ram. According to local beliefs, the idol of Lord Ram was discovered centuries ago on the banks of the Sarayu River by saints and later installed in a wooden shrine before the current temple was built.

The temple remains an important spiritual destination in Ayodhya and reflects the rich religious heritage and cultural beauty of the city.
